Oh là là, Simone Perele!

Simone Perele provides a French touch for all your lingerie needs, from beautiful basics to laced stunners.

A seamless look and comfort are both achievable with Simone Perele Invisibulles basics. “Bulles” is French for ‘bubbles’, which accurately describes the airy quality of these panties. Simone Perele Invisibulles look and feel invisible.  I recommend the Simone Perele Invisibulles Thong for under your favorite exercise clothing for a zero-panty-lines look during your workout. Madame Perele always said, “A good bra is a bra you forget about.” This applies to basic panties as well!

Think of classic French architecture; the ornate white exteriors finely detailed with intricate iron rails at each balcony. These small touches add femininity and a delicate grandeur to French buildings, creating something truly lovely. Simone Perele uses lace in the same way; the floral-accented lace of the Simone Perele collection provides the provocative beauty you are looking for in your lingerie. The Simone Perele Romance group is particularly stunning with perfect placement of lace, and the feminine double spaghetti straps mean that you can let the straps show! The delicate tulle details of Simone Perele Romance are as gorgeous and captivating as a French chateau.

I also fell in love with the seductive Celeste Demi Cup Plunge. This bra takes a plunge into color with Chantilly lace in a lovely shade of orange. Tulle support on the bottom and sides of the cups as well as elastic along to the top of the cups and underarms creates a fit custom to your natural curves.

Once you wear Simone Perele, you don’t wear anything else!ImageImage

Wardrobe Wednesday: Four lace bras that will add romantic allure to your lingerie collection.

Lace BraNo conversation about building the perfect bra wardrobe is complete without mentioning a lace bra. It’s without a doubt the most romantic piece of intimate apparel a woman can wear. With Valentine’s Day just a few weeks away, I thought it would be very appropriate to discuss lace bras. Clearly someone had women in mind when they invented this dainty openwork fabric. According to Wikipedia, lace was prominent in fashion and home décor during the late 1500s. It was used to embellish collars and cuffs and was used by clergy of the early Catholic Church as part of vestments in religious ceremonies, but did not become widely used until the 16th century in the northwestern part of Europe. Lacemaking became a popular trade, spreading to North America in the 19th Century through missionaries. The invention of the bobbin net machine in 1768 caused a shift away from lacemaking by hand as a trade given the ability to produce lace more quickly. Handmade lace become more of a hobby as a result. Nevertheless, the history of lace is certainly ample evidence of why European brands excel at designing lace bras. It’s in their DNA. In fact, the three brands I’m going to recommend are all European.

Simone Perele’s Celeste triangle bra

In the soft bra category, I really like the Celeste Triangle Non Underwire bra by Simone Perele. It’s romantic, flirtatious and comfortable, providing light support and has a flattering triangle shape. The Celeste Triangle Bra is showcases the elegance and beauty of French Chantilly lace with stretch lace cups for a perfect fit.

Graciuse demi cup bra by LOU Paris.

LOU Paris, which has undergone a fabulous update, offers a pretty lace bra called Graciuse that I absolutely adore. It’s made using rigid French lace that doesn’t stretch so it’s a great style to wear for minimizing bounce. The flirty details include a satin bow and lacy trim. This is a brand new style in the collection that I predict will be a big hit.

If you like a demi cup, check out the Piccadilly lace demi bra from LOU Paris. It features a semi-sheer genuine Leaver’s lace cup, with soft sheer mesh lining. A 3/4 vertical seam on the cup provides a natural uplift.

Mimi Holliday Angelique Jet Comfort Bra

British brand Mimi Holliday gives the French a run for their money in the lace bra category with the Angelique Jet Comfort Bra. Angelique Jet will make you feel sexy and empowered in a delectable combination of pure silk and intricate lace in an opulent onyx. It has a perfect combination of full coverage support, structure and beautiful detailing, creating natural cleavage. With its jet black lace cups and matching silk detailing, this bra is simply charming and gives great shape in all cup sizes.

Whether you prefer full coverage, demi or soft support, there’s always a place for lace in your lingerie wardrobe.

Wardrobe Wednesday: Why a pretty and supportive push-up bra can be an uplifting experience.

Push-Up BraFor the second installment of my bra wardrobe-building series for the New Year, I want to focus on the push-up bra. I like to think of push-ups in the same way I do about a hot pair of high-heeled shoes. They may not be the most comfortable garment to wear, but, let’s face it, they give us a highly desirable effect. You know what they say, we pay a price for glamour. It’s also about  how we feel about ourselves. What girl doesn’t want a little help now and then? Push-up bras produce different levels of enhancement. Depending on our personal taste, a push-up can give us a nice lift that supports and flatters us in a fitted top or dress or make us a strong contender for a part-time gig at the local Hooters. My point is that push-ups are like makeup for the bustline. Construction is important. On average, no two push-up bras are built the same way so it’s good to try out a few styles from different brands to find out which one offers the best fit for you. I have three brands that I like to recommend to customers depending on their needs.

The Little Bra Company

For small-breasted women, The Mercedes bra is a sophisticated petite demi push-up with medium padded contoured smooth cups for subtle lift and support, and hints of feminine lace detail. More side coverage offers attractive looking rounded lift. Perfect for scoop neck and lower cut tops. Although you still get the cleavage and push-up known from The Little Bra Company bras, the cups are slightly roomier with more elastic in the band. Please consider a size that is closer to your general bra size. This bra does not fit as snug as the other styles from The Little Bra Company.

Simone Perele

Simone Perele is a brand to turn to for a romantic take on most bras. The Amour Push Up Racerback bra features luxurious lace, romantic details, and a flattering fit. It’s designed with contour cups and progressive padding that enhance and lift. Embroidered flowers accent the wide-set straps and center gore.

OnGossamer

OnGossamer has a trio of push-ups that offer variety in degree of uplift and neckline.

The Bump it Up push-up is one of the brand’s best-selling bras with seamless superfine mesh and a graduated push-up pad to create cleavage that bumps you up one whole cup size. You can twist the bra at the center for even more lift.

OnGossamer’s Sleek & Lace Scoop Neck push-up  has their deepest plunging neckline with cleverly angled cups and graduated push-up pads for maximum cleavage. It’s beautiful in silky, sleek fabric and a stretch lace back that adds the perfect touch of femininity.

If you’re wearing something without straps, OnGossamer’s superfine Mesh Strapless Push-Up bra overlays a push-up strapless pad to create a seamless look. It has lightweight silicone edging on the back to avoid slipping and is highly versatile with convertible straps.

Wardrobe Wednesday: Why every woman should have at least three t-shirt bras in her lingerie collection.

hanging t-shirt bra

If you’re like me, you’re probably welcoming the New Year with a few updates to your closet, if not a total overhaul. A few pieces in your wardrobe that are starting to look dated (re-e-e-ally dated, in some cases) are finally getting evicted to make room for some brand new garments that will freshen up your look. When you make changes to your garment options, it’s good to do likewise with your intimate apparel. Intimates are like makeup; they provide the finishing touch to your look by playing up your best assets and camouflaging wherever necessary. With this in mind, I’m introducing a series of posts, called Wardrobe Wednesday, that in the coming weeks will examine every category of intimate apparel that should be represented in a woman’s lingerie assortment. Today I’m starting with a style that is a true worker bee in the world of lingerie: the t-shirt bra. Thank goodness for the t-shirt bra. It lets us shine in all sorts of fabulous body-conforming fashions while it quietly supports and smooths out our silhouette with its molded cups and thin lining that prevents show-through underneath our clothes. T-shirt bras come in extra handy during the warm-weather months when we’re not wearing as many layers of clothes, but they’re a great everyday basic to have year-round, too. I recommend women own at least three of them in black, white and nude. Style-wise, there are options as well. The four categories that should be included in your wardrobe include the pretty fashion bra, the extra comfy demi-cup bra, the full coverage bra and a deep-plunge style for wearing under low-neckline tops.

The Pretty Bra

Simone Perele is a brand that I consider a great choice for affordable luxury bras. The Simone Perele Romance 3D Molded Bra is an elegant underwire contour bra made with lightweight 3D spacer foam which hugs your curves and accentuates cleavage without adding any extra volume. Seamless microfiber and stretch tulle offers comfort and a custom fit, with intricate guipure floral detail for design.

The Extra Comfy Bra

The Andora 3D Molded bra is a flawless t-shirt demi bra featuring seamless 3D lightweight woven fabric that hugs your natural curves. Made of spacer foam, a superior knit that creates air between the top and bottom layers for breathability. Contour underwire cups accentuate cleavage without adding extra volume. Exceptional support up to an F cup. Chic styling with guipure lace and embroidery. Embroidered tulle at center and on front of straps.

Full Coverage with plunge neckline

The breakthrough Caressence 3D Plunge bra is made with Aloe Vera infused lace for the ultimate everyday contour t-shirt bra. Aloe Vera-infused lace is ultra-soft against the skin (ideal for sensitive skin) and lasts the lifetime of the bra. Made with seamless lightweight 3D woven fabric, this must-have underwire cup bra is smooth and comfortable while delivering a beautiful silhouette. Elastic along top and bottom of sheer lace sides offers a custom fit. Plunge cut highlights cleavage without adding volume. Lace-trimmed elastic straps taper into elastic straps that adjust in the back with metal hardware for the perfect fit. 1-hook back closure provides a less bulky look under clothes.

The Investment Piece

Empreinte offers the Bentley of t-shirt bras. It’s a wise investment piece for the full-busted woman who demands support, style and uncompromising quality. The Melody demi cup seamless bra is extremely well made and beautiful. Featuring Chantilly lace with a geometric floral design over smooth, seamless cups, with demi cups for an open neckline that allows more cleavage and flexibility with your wardrobe. The contour cup conceals and creates a sexy appearance on the body. This t-shirt bra has a round, soft fit, supportive underwire, and sleek ribbon shoulder straps and elegant finish. Sides and back are made of specially designed power net fabric that stabilizes the bra.

Take it from me, a great t-shirt bra can be a girl’s best friend.

A Thing for Thongs: The top five thongs that will eliminate visible panty lines and help you avoid flashing the paparazzi at a major movie premiere.

Eberjey Leonora Thong

Eberjey Leonora Thong

By now I’m sure you’ve heard about what happened to Anne Hathaway at the world premiere of Les Miserables in New York City last month. Anne’s stylist put together a very edgy all-black look, perhaps inspired by her recent turn as Catwoman in “Batman Rises,” which included dominatrix-style, high-heeled shoes peeking out of a sexy slit in her long dress. Unfortunately, Anne’s leg wasn’t the only thing peeking out when she made an awkward exit from a rather high SUV upon arriving to the red carpet, resulting in her flashing the V sign to a swarm of photographers. In this case, V did not stand for victory. The resulting photos traveled the world’s gossip sites in a millisecond and Anne’s PR team seemed to go into damage control as a report surfaced in The Daily News that sources “overheard” her explaining to a Vanity Fair editor that the incident was a genuine wardrobe malfunction. This may have been a way to deflect any jaded theories that the incident was an ill-conceived stunt crafted to advance Anne’s evolution from Hollywood ingénue to sexy leading lady. In this age of shock-tactics celebrity spin, anything is possible but I prefer to think that it was indeed a misguided attempt to avoid visible panty lines sabotaged by a dress that was challenging to maneuver in. Her team may not have seen it coming but boy, did the world see it going. This brings me to the subject of thongs. As a lingerie expert, I can’t hold my tongue on this one. I guess every woman has the right to go without undies occasionally but an A-list event where you will be the center of attention from the world’s photographers and entertainment media doesn’t strike me as the best time to go commando. You don’t need to be exiting an SUV or limo for this theory to apply. You can be sitting in a particularly low sofa at a party where you’ve been making eyes at a cute guy who’s returning your flirtatious glances from across the room. Suddenly you get up to give him a chance to approach you and your dress rides up, resulting in your very own Britney moment. Oops, if only you had worn a thong! I realize thongs aren’t every woman’s cup of tea but that’s why lingerie makers spent a lot of money on technology to create VPL-vanquishing seamless panties. I wrote about this topic back in November. For this post I want to concentrate on thongs because, God forbid you should have a wardrobe malfunction in public, you will have the security of covering your lady parts if you are wearing one. If you couldn’t care less, then you can stop reading at this point. If, however, you’re a modest gal like me who prefers to avoid VPL with a little help from our stringed supporters, check out these great thong options from the assortment on ThePinkSlip.com.

The leopard thong from Eberjey’s Leonora collection is purr-fectly feminine in a soft jersey fabric. This may have been more in line with the Catwoman theme Anne’s stylist seemed to be going for!

The Next Best Thing to Going Commando

The folks at Commando had the brilliant idea of creating precision-cut underwear made from a patented fabric that lays smooth and flat on your body. The Commando Thong’s “naked” construction, without elastic or trim, eliminates panty lines and hip gouging forever. Basically, you’ll enjoy the liberating feeling of going commando without the risk.

If you’re planning an outfit for a special occasion, consider giving thongs a chance to save you from flashing more than a pretty smile.

Shoulder to Shoulder: How a great strapless bra can support and flatter your holiday party look.

Strapless Bras from Pink Slip

Strapless Bras from Pink Slip

As fashion has evolved, so has the bra. One of the most crucial styles to have, especially for women who like to experiment with fashion, is the strapless. Women planning to flaunt their beautiful shoulders in strapless or one-shouldered gowns this holiday season need to have a good strapless bra in their wardrobe. Actually, they need at least two: one in black and one in nude. When it comes to finding the best strapless for you, it’s important to have an open mind, experiment with brands and understand that brands have different sizing systems. You may be a 34C in a basic bra from brand ABC, but one in size 36B by brand XYZ may fit you just as well. What I always suggested to customers at my store was to gather eight bras and try them on with clothing worn over the bra. Remember, you’re not only going to check the fit but the effect the bra gives you under clothes. Finding the right strapless for you requires trial and error. By its nature, the strapless bra needs to fit more snugly than your basic everyday bra. The key to determining whether a bra is appropriately snug versus too tight is to conduct the mirror test. I know, we hate the mirror test. Who wants to stare at our own backside under fluorescent lights? Well, I hope that you’re standing under soft lighting when you do this because no woman deserves the jarring effect of harsh lighting. Nevertheless, it’s the only way to avoid unnecessary pain or the embarrassment of an ill-timed wardrobe malfunction when you’re getting down on the dance floor. If it’s loose on you, you’ll be doing “the tug” all night long.
Imagine that you’re doing the mirror test:
• Examine how your breasts sit in the cups.
• The bra needs to lift and not flatten.
• Look for a flattering swell in your bust without spilling out of the cups.
• When you turn around and look in the mirror you should not see rolls of back fat protruding from the wings. If you do, it’s time to say “Next!”
If you’re happy with the way your bust looks in the cups, feel like you can move without spilling out and don’t see traces of back fat, put on a body-conforming top – or the dress you plan to wear to your special occasion – and complete your strapless test drive.
Strapless bras come in two categories: basic and deep plunge. Convertible bras offer the option to go strapless as well. At Pink Slip, we carry three styles that offer different effects: a strapless push-up, a lacy fashion bra, and a plunge bra for full-busted women. All of them are designed to fit properly and have detachable straps to double as convertible bras.

The Booster:
For extra oomph, OnGossamer’s superfine mesh overlays a push-up strapless pad to create a seamless look. Lightweight silicone edging on the bra’s back avoids slipping. Convertible adjustable straps give you the option of wearing it under gowns with a range of necklines. This bra is a real worker bee, ladies.

For the Curvy Girl:
Panache’s No. 1 selling bra, the Porcelain Molded Strapless Bra, has lightly padded, contour underwire cups for support and shape. It’s seamless for modesty and has an even, rounded appearance. This bra has detachable straps, so in addition to being a strapless, it can be worn as a halter, one-shoulder, crisscross or regular style. The deep plunge center front makes it perfect for wearing under low-cut strapless outfits. It features silicone gripper along the wings for a secure fit. If you’re a lush, curvy girl, this bra is for you.

The Romantic Look:
The Celeste Strapless Plunge by Simone Perele is a beautiful contour underwire bra featuring seamless cups and elegant French Chantilly lace trim, with light padding for modesty and a smooth, rounded shape. Removable thin straps are double elastic in the front and single in the back, and can be worn in traditional, racerback or strapless styles. A deep plunge center front makes it perfect for low-cut strapless outfits. The sides and back have sewn-on elastic with silicone grippers strips at top and bottom. This is the one you want to go with it if you’re looking to make a sexy statement when your party dress comes off!

No matter what your personal style or body type is, invest the time needed to experiment with a few brands and I guarantee you’ll find the right strapless bra for you. Then hit the dance floor and throw caution to the wind!

Heat Up the Holidays: Pink Slip picks the ten sexiest lingerie looks of the year.

Lace eye mask by Oh La La Cheri

Lace eye mask by Oh La La Cheri

‘Tis the season to be sexy. The holidays are upon us and most of our shopping list has been attended to (we hope). We’re taking time off from work, slowing down the pace and connecting with those we love to appreciate the good things in our lives. For those of us lucky enough to have a significant other, the holidays present an opportunity to rediscover each other in the spirit of the season. In the privacy of your time together, there’s an opportunity to light a fire, both literally and figuratively, cuddle up and explore where the long, chilly nights may take you. Sexy is a state of mind, to be sure. We all have different ideas of what constitutes a sexy person, a sexy moment or even a sexy thought. Thank goodness for that! How boring would life be if we all liked the same thing? When it comes to intimate apparel, the French saying Vive le Difference applies. We’re all built differently and have our own tastes so it stands to reason we would take a very personal approach to sexy dressing during the holidays. With this in mind, I looked through the Pink Slip assortment and thought about the garments that had the sexiest effect. Some of them wouldn’t automatically be thought of as sexy, but I think the most functional undergarment can be very sexy in the right circumstances so my “hot list” of sexy intimates for 2012 includes pieces in a range of categories. If you’re shopping for a new look this holiday season, consider these options and how you might put your own special spin on them. You know how I encourage experimentation. So go ahead, live a little.

On December 4 I had the pleasure of presenting an assortment of brands available from ThePinkSlip.com at the annual ladies’ luncheon fundraising sale at the beautiful townhouse of The Columbus Citizens Foundation, a non-profit organization in New York City committed to fostering an appreciation of Italian-American heritage and achievement. The Foundation, through a broad range of philanthropic and cultural activities, provides opportunities for advancement to deserving Italian-American students through various scholarship and grant programs. The Foundation organizes New York City’s annual Columbus Celebration and Columbus Day Parade, which has celebrated Italian-American heritage on New York’s Fifth Avenue since 1929. I have participated in the event for ten years and it’s always a lot of fun. The ladies loved our selection of styles from brands such as P.J. Salvage,  Hanky Panky, Cosabella and Simone Perele, among others. I even got to meet Lady’s Gaga’s mom, who’s a member of the foundation. How fun is that?

Lace opera gloves by Leg Avenue

Lace opera gloves by Leg Avenue

For the final entry in my Men’s Week series of posts I want to address the lucky ladies out there who have a thoughtful guy who is sweet enough to buy you intimates for the holidays. Actually, this post applies to any occasion during the year when you get lingerie as a gift from a guy. What happens when the intimates he selects are what he would like to see you slip on rather than the style you would buy for yourself? You know where I’m going with this, don’t you? You take one look at it — what little there may be to see or even hold — and think to yourself “I would NEVER wear this thing.” Clearly, your guy has an agenda and I’m here to tell you to get on that gravy train… now! There are plenty of women out there still waiting for Thanksgiving, if you know what I mean. It’s so hard to find a great guy with a sense of romance. Remember “Sex and the City?” I rest my case. Ladies, I urge you to meet him half way, put that sexy number on and be the pin-up girl of his dreams. Empower yourself by freeing yourself and celebrate how lucky you are to have a significant other who makes the effort to keep things fresh and exciting between you. It’s a gift in more than one way. I know some women find “playing sexy” an intimidating prospect. Not everyone aspires to be a Victoria’s Secret model and that’s perfectly fine. You still owe it to yourself to put forth your best effort and try a new look while remaining true to yourself. Remember, in the privacy of your home, you and he are the only ones who matter. You don’t have to wait for him to get you something “different” to push the boundaries of your lingerie wardrobe, either. This goes for the single gals out there, too! That said, I find it helpful for a woman who’s conservative to consider dipping her toe in the sea of sexy by trying new lingerie looks in degrees of daring. Given the phenomenal success of 50 Shades of Grey, I suspect that my Three Degrees of Daring is an approach whose time has come!

The First Degree: Keep it Simple.

Believe it or not, simplicity works with men. Sometimes all you need is a key new piece in your lingerie wardrobe to add a spark to your boudoir look. Black and sheer always work, of course, and I would recommend the Screen Goddess Slip from Lola Haze, which lets you be the main attraction in a revealing mesh silhouette that falls beautifully on your curves.

Lola Haze Sheer Goddess Slip

Lola Haze Screen Goddess Slip

The Second Degree: The Little Black Set.

Speaking of black, the theory about every woman needing a little black dress in her wardrobe applies to intimates, too. Black lingerie is just sexy, period. It’s the first thing I recommend to women who may be resistant to donning a full-on corset and garters number. The Little Black Set, consisting of a basic black bra, a panty, thigh highs and a garter, works well without going too far if you’re conservative. It’s easy to put together. Every lingerie brand has a black bra and I like Addiction’s Nouvelle full-cup bra with mesh and soft microfiber paneling.

A panty with a special detail, meanwhile, brings the eye to your womanly figure and adds zing to your style. Try Leg Avenue’s sheer panty with satin rhumba ruffle back or Mimi Holliday’s Angelique Jet Bow Back Thong, which has a flattering silk satin bow in back that literally gives him something special to unwrap this holiday season!

For the legs, Philippe Matignon offers sexy Nobless 50 denier suspender belt thigh-high stockings with sheer toes. Pair them with garter belts from Mimi Holliday or Simone Perele for the perfect finishing touch.

Philippe Matignon thigh highs & garter

Philippe Matignon thigh highs & garter

The Third Degree: Dress it Up!

You’re ready to tap into your inner Bond Girl and strut your stuff in a dress-up look with the works: corset, garters, sheers, you name it. This isn’t about having a so-called perfect body, mind you. If you’re an extra curvy gal or a petite one with a modest bust and have the love of a good man, you are perfect in his eyes, so go for it!

This season I’m very big on the three-piece Blush set by Leg Avenue, the masters in sexy lingerie looks. It pays homage to pin-up girl style with lace and a power mesh underwire bra with retro stitching and oversized elastic straps, a girdle skirt with attached garters and matching G-string.

Leg Avenue 3-piece Blush set

Leg Avenue 3-piece Blush set

So the next time your guy tries to coax you into wearing lingerie that you wouldn’t choose for yourself, meet him half way. If all goes well, you won’t be wearing it for long!

XOXO,

Margo
